As Director of Communications, Debra Marks, works behind-the-scenes researching, interviewing, writing, editing, preparing, managing and producing print and electronic publications that are used to recruit students, communicate with alumni, set the tone for a special event, meet with potential donors, and inform the community about the Southern California College of Optometry. As a member of SCCO's Advancement and Marketing Department she also supports and participates in all facets of special events planning and execution.
A native of Orange County, California, Marks earned a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from San Diego State University and a Master in Arts in Communications from California State University, Fullerton. Prior to joining SCCO in 1982, Marks was Director of Public Information for Big Brothers / Big Sisters of Orange County. An active member of the community, she proudly served as President of the Yorba Linda Sunrise Rotary Club, 2005–06.
