Tami Sato has been employed at SCCO since 1981 and has served as the key financial aid administrator since 1983. She has been an active member of the California Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (CASFAA) serving on numerous committees. She has held three elected positions on the CASFAA Executive Council and was the CASFAA Vice-President. This responsibility includes chairing the CASFAA Federal Issues Committee.
A member of the Western Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (WASFAA) for many years, Ms. Sato recently became an active member serving as the Ethnic Diversity Action Chair in 2002 and the Federal Issues Chair in 2001, 2003-2004 and 2009. She was elected as the WASFAA President for the 2006-2007 year.
Ms. Sato has served on the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA) on the Graduate and Professional Issues Committee. As WASFAA President she serves as the regional representative and a voting member on the NASFAA Board of Directors.
At the Professional Development Conference for Health Professions Financial Aid Administrators (PDCHPFAA) she has participated as a roundtable facilitator, presenter and moderator. She has chaired the Association of Schools and Colleges of Optometry (ASCO) Taskforce on Student Financial Aid. She has served or chaired the ASCO Debt Management Team since 1993.
Active participation in the state, regional, and national associations provides opportunities to advocate for the student aid programs utilized by SCCO students.
Ms. Sato received a Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Management from Pacific Christian College.
