BVS 520 Clinical Medicine I

This course provides the fundamental principles of general pathology. Topics of discussion include cell injury and death, cellular repair, inflammation, infection, blood and circulatory disorders, neoplasia, genetics, and environmental diseases. The patho-physiology of each topic is emphasized. The laboratory portion concentrates on clinical procedures, diagnostic evaluation, and treatment and management, and enables application of those theories learned in lecture. The laboratory topics presented include glucometry, blood pressure, and carotid artery assessment, cranial nerve evaluation, headache history, and systemic emergencies.
