CLS 670 Cornea and Contact Lenses I
3 Lecture Hours, 2 Lab Hours, 0 Clinic Hours

The basic characteristics and design features of gas permeable (GP) contact lenses are presented. Topics addressed in this course include lens fabrication, verification and analysis, contact lens optics, and fluorescein pattern interpretation. Approaches to fitting gas permeable contact lenses considering the contributions of corneal topography, refraction and over-refraction, and tear lens calculations are demonstrated. Care of GP contact lens patients and the anatomical and physiological changes associated with adaptation and long-term wear are discussed.
