The Southern California College of Optometry (SCCO), recognized four Artists of Philanthropy, for their exceptional support at its Circle of Vision Luncheon on February 17.  Honored as the Distinguished Volunteer Fundraiser was Richard D. Jones, J.D.; Distinguished Philanthropist Kathryn T. McCarty; and two awards for Distinguished Corporate Sponsor were presented to Snyder Langston and Alcon.

SCCO Trustee Richard Jones received the award for Distinguished Volunteer Fundraiser for inspiring others to support the College and for his own pledge of $50,000 to the ACHIEVING 2020 Campaign.  In his absence, two of his sons, Brandon and Ryan, accepted the award.

The award for Distinguished Philanthropist was presented to Mrs. Kathryn McCarty, a long-time contributor to many organizations in Orange County, including SCCO.  The Kathryn T. McCarty Adaptive Technology Center in SCCO's Eye Care Center is a testament to her generosity.

Orange County-based Synder Langston was honored as a Distinguished Corporate Sponsor.  Company co-founder William Langston was instrumental in the building and subsequent expansion of the College's Fullerton campus, as well as providing financial support to many programs at SCCO.   Mr. Langston is a pioneer supporter of the College's new ACHIEVING 2020 Campaign.  Accepting the award on behalf of William Langston was company CFO Paul Pfieffer.

Over the years, Alcon has donated over $300,000 to SCCO and its special programs making it a perfect choice for the award for Distinguished Corporate Sponsor.  The company has sponsored college events, scholarships, education programs and research projects at SCCO.  Alcon's Director of Professional Relations David Sattler, accepted the award.
