Winners of SCCO Student Research Symposium Announced

The senior research paper, "The Relationship Between Maximum Office Intra-Ocular Pressure and Time Spent in the Supine Position," earned First Place honors for Mona Adams and Michelle Kirk at the Southern California College of Optometry's (SCCO's), Thirty-Third Annual Student Research Symposium. Overall, five papers were presented by members of SCCO's Class of 2012 at the May 23 event.
The winning paper earned $1,200 for the two students who will also receive their Doctor of Optometry degrees on Friday, May 25. Their faculty advisors were Assistant Professors Judy Tong, O.D., and Mark Sawamura, O.D. Student Valerie Ng earned Second Place honors and $800 for her paper, "Understanding the Optometry Examination for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Patients." The faculty advisor was Assistant Professor Julie Schornack, O.D., M.Ed. |
"Visual Search Pilot Study: A Performance Evaluation of the Effect of Image Enhancement," received Third Place honors and $500 for, Lily Wang. Her faculty advisor was Eli Peli, M.Sc., O.D.
