"Each time we look at our diploma, we should remember that we are still students, still learning how to best care for our patients.  Soon our merits will not be measured by the number of correct answers bubbled on a scantron, but by the number of lives that we change," this is part of the speech Shora Mobin Ansari, M.S., will deliver to her classmates as the 2011 Valedictorian for the Southern California College of Optometry (SCCO). "I'm sure you have all had moments in the past year where you realized that as an optometrist, you have the power to profoundly impact someone's life."

Ansari will deliver her Valedictorian's Speech at SCCO's 107th Commencement Exercise on Friday, May 20.  She is one of 96 members of the Class of 2011 who will receive the four-year professional degree Doctor of Optometry.

Prior to entering SCCO in August 2007, Ansari earned two degrees from the University of California, San Diego, a B.S. in pharmacological chemistry and an M.S. in chemistry.  The new optometrist, from Yorba Linda, California, plans to join a private optometric practice in the Orange County area.
