Optometrists and optometric interns from the Southern California College of Optometry (SCCO), are beginning the third month of providing vision care to patients at Caduceus Health Group in Yorba Linda. Primary eye care and pediatric eye care are being provided two, half-days each week at the health care facility.
SCCO Assistant Professor Susan Shin, O.D., is leading the College's team at Caduceus Health Group. Dr. Shin is providing the direct patient care and role modeling for SCCO third-year optometric interns.
"What makes this program unique is that SCCO faculty are providing the lead role in patient care and the interns have the opportunity to see first-hand how an expert practitioner performs," said SCCO VP for Interprofessional Affairs John H. Nishimoto, O.D., M.B.A. "Therefore, the doctors serve as a role model to the interns. Additionally, optometric interns have the opportunity to interact with other health care providers at Caduceus."
SCCO faculty members also providing care at Caduceus are: Dr. Nishimoto; Associate Professor George W. Comer, O.D., M.B.A.; and Assistant Professor John H. Lee, O.D.
