SCCO Announces VP Appointments

The Southern California College of Optometry (SCCO), has announced the appointment of two Vice Presidents at its Eye Care Center. Julie A. Schornack, O.D., M.Ed., has been named Vice President and Dean of Clinical Affairs and John H. Nishimoto, O.D., M.B.A., has been named Vice President of Interprofessional Affairs.

Dr. Schornack received her optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometry in 1984. She then completed a Masters of Education at Pacific University, College of Optometry. Dr. Schornack has been at SCCO since 1986 and is currently enrolled in a doctoral program in education with an emphasis in leadership and management in higher education at Azusa Pacific College.

In her new position as Vice President and Dean of Clinical Affairs, Dr. Schornack will oversee the business and operations of the Eye Care Center. She's also an Assistant Professor in the Cornea and Contact Lens Service, where she has responsibilities in the lecture, laboratory and clinic.

NishimotoJohn.jpg In his new position as Vice President of Interprofessional Affairs, Dr. Nishimoto will work with external organizations to further the goals of the College. He received a Doctor of Optometry degree from SCCO in 1987, and then completed a one-year residency in Hospital-Based Geriatric Optometry at the West Los Angeles VA Medical Center. In 1997, Dr. Nishimoto received a Health Care Executive Masters in Business Administration degree from the University of California, Irvine. Dr. Nishimoto is a Professor at SCCO and has clinical teaching responsibilities in primary care and ocular disease at the Eye Care Center.
