SCCO optometric interns and faculty will provide vision screenings to the athletes participating at the Fall Games of the Special Olympics Southern California this coming weekend! More than 1,100 athletes will gather Saturday and Sunday, December 8 and 9 in Irvine and Fountain Valley to compete, as well as take part in the Healthy Athletes Village. To keep the athletes prepared for their training and competitions, free health screenings are made available during the Fall Games. Volunteer healthcare professionals and students provide screenings in the areas of podiatry, hearing, optometry, dental, dietary and fitness. |
The vision screening will include visual acuity, entrance tests, refraction, health assessment and the selection of glasses. This is one of dozens of community service events at which SCCO students, faculty and staff provide vision care each year.
